Episode 22: Bradley Tusk - Tusk Holdings

I'm in an Uber on my way to my most important interview, and I realize I don’t know what I'm going to say.

I have no idea what my first question will be. I remember the phrase “don’t bury the lede.” Not 100% sure what that means, but I think it means ask him the most interesting question first. Too hard to decide. There are too many great topics.

I have written out dozens of questions under different topics; Mayor Rendell, Penn, StarQuest, Schumer, Hillary, Bloomberg, Uber…

Wait - that’s it! Uber! I will ask him how he made tens of millions on Uber!

This week I interviewed Bradley Tusk, the venture capitalist, political strategist and writer. Bradley is the Founder and CEO of Tusk Holdings, which works with and invests in high growth startups facing political and regulatory challenges. He invented this industry.

Previously, Bradley served as campaign manager for Mike Bloomberg, as Deputy Governor of Illinois, and Communications Director for Senator Charles Schumer. I can’t imagine what being be responsible for press for Sen. Schumer was like.

Six months ago I started a podcast on government relations - lobbying - and this is our first author and biggest interview.

I am trying to act like today is just another interview, but it’s not. I am excited to speak to Bradley, see his operation, and get his insights.

The podcast is really gaining traction. Not sure why. Our audience has tripled. More importantly, it’s fun. We get to meet interesting people and have focused conversations.

I hope you enjoy this week's interview as much as I did.

All the best,

Jim
